Faith After COVID and Immigration

Faith After COVID and Immigration

Author’s note: This is my testimony of how a moment after COVID changed my heart, my family’s schooling choices, and ultimately the way I walked my immigration journey in BC.

Faith After COVID and Immigration: From Atheist to Awakened

Until May 2020, I lived as an atheist, unsure whether God existed. During the uncertainty of COVID, I went for a quiet walk on a local trail. With an evangelist’s testimony playing on YouTube, the trees around me felt like a chapel. I was overwhelmed by an unmistakable sense of God’s love. I cried tears of joy and knew: God is real, and He loves me. That day became the hinge of my story.

Faith After COVID and Immigration: Choosing a New Direction for Our Children

That encounter reshaped our family priorities. I began seeking a school where faith and learning walk together, which led us to BCCA. It wasn’t just about academics; it was about character, community, and daily practices that keep us close to God while we build a new life in Canada.

Faith After COVID and Immigration: Work, Calling, and a Christian-based Center

In 2021, through providential steps, I interviewed for a role at a Christian centre. Serving there became both work and worship. Every day I saw small transformations—shy smiles becoming confident voices, conflicts turning into peacemaking moments. I felt God’s grace guiding my hands as an educator and my heart as a newcomer.

Faith After COVID and Immigration: Verses that Carried Me

  • Philippians 4:13 — “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Bible Gateway)
  • 1 Corinthians 10:13 — “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear…” (Bible Gateway)

Faith After COVID and Immigration: Immigration Steps with a Steady Heart

Faith didn’t remove the steps; it steadied them. I kept clean records, aligned my ECE duties with NOC 42202, and looked for workplaces that respected families and compliance. When doors opened—schools, jobs, mentors—I received them as provision and moved forward with gratitude.

Faith After COVID and Immigration: What I Tell Other Newcomers

  • Guard your rhythm: Family routines and prayer times keep you steady while documents and timelines move.
  • Document your journey: Offers, pay stubs, references, and training certificates tell a clear story for PR later.
  • Find your people: A faith community and a child-centered workplace make settlement humane and hopeful.
